The Lady of Bonifacio
21.9.2008 15:43 - Francie - Korsika - Bonifacio - Mémoiral de la Bastion (muzeum) - The sceleton discovered in July 1972 in the natural grotto of Araguina -Sennola at the entrance to Bonifacio dates from -6570, that is to say 7000 BC, in other words the pre-neolithie age. It is the skeleton of a woman of roughly 35 to 40 years, 1.54 meters tall, in rather bad health: She must only have survived thanks to group solidary. She was buried by members of her elan and her body was covered by dark brown substance, some 5 cm stick. We did notm however, find any funeral furniture or body decoration, This is, at present, the oldest skeleton discovered in Corsica and today can be seen at the Lévie Museum, The Araguina-Sennola grotto is extremely well situated: near to the sea and on the edge of a valley, thus enabling the men who lived there to go both fishing and hunting. Their tools were mainly made quartz as indicated by the hundreds of fragments found in the grotto. - Ukázat na mapě
